Here it is! Our first comic! Just in time for everyone to head to the beach for the 4th of July next week. Always make sure there is a lifeguard on duty.
The inspiration for this one came from a few places but basically hit all at once. I saw a reprint of the iconic poster for the original Bruce Brown surfing documentary, ENDLESS SUMMER. The word "endless" stood out and I wondered what a particular kind of horror story would look like… Well, the answer is below! As for the lack of words, I swear there were some in the script. Truthfully, while I can sometimes get lost in dialogue, I also love an occasional homage to that classic silent issue of G.I. Joe. I also love seeing how artists translate these scripts. I try to include important details and movement, but not get Alan Moore level detailed about the length of the grass or whatnot unless there is a reason. When I see the art coming along, instead of being precious about someone not perfectly recreating some impossible thing in my head, I get to see crazy new ways it could go, details I'd never considered. It's awesome. If you're not collaborating to get the best ideas from everyone, go write prose. Which I also do, because I'm not entirely over myself I guess.
